Proper typing skill

One of the action items i mentioned previously and was determined to follow up after the Time Mangement Curse is to learn proper typing skill.

I managed to buy a typing training CD when I was shopping at Popular Bookstore. And for the past 3 weeks I was disciplined enough to spend about an hour a day average to learn / practise typing -- starting from scratch -- properly!!

Many students who came into my room will know i actually typed with only 3-4 fingers previously. Actually my self-trained "螳螂功" was not too bad ...think i can managed 20 wpm at least. But that will be the maximum limit with so few fingers used; and also...I need to look at the keyboard all the time!! If without light - I will not be able to type at all.

So after 3 weeks of constant progression, I am now finally reaching lesson 43 of 50. Now I know and can type slowly all the letters A to Z without looking at the keyboard! And I am very happy to say that I actually typed this blog entry slowly but using the correct finger techniques!!

What is left in the last few lessons in the CD are the position of comma, fullstop, shift, tap keys etc etc. and some revisions and tests. Yes I will spend maybe another 1 week to complete them. but what is significant tonight is that i will switch my typing style across to the proper way from now on. There is just no turning back.

Christof have been very encouraging all along... assuring me that it maybe abit painful and even inefficient at the beginning...but slowly it will get better and will definitely be beneficial to me. I believe he is right...I am pressing on strongly.

I really think the skill will be even more useful to my son!! With his pianist fingers and no previous wrong training...he can really learn well and save alot of time in the future!! now is the perfect time to train him as he just finished his p4 exams...so plenty of time now!!

Hey...anyone of you out there is also using 3-4 fingers typing technique and wanted to change and improve?? With the CD training is so simple and easy...thanks to technology!! Let me know if you are interested to learn the proper way of typing too!

My Nu-goggle

It's near holidays again and I can go swimming with Yi Fan again. This time we choose to swim in the early evening before we had our dinner. It is a bit warmer and less of a resistance for me to dip into the pool at the beginning of swim.

Never realised that I actually had been using my swimming goggle for 17 years. It is TYR goggle with degrees so that short sighted people like me can see much clearer in the water while swimming. When I bought it back then, my short sightedness was only 400 -500 degrees. After all these years, now I actually need almost double in specs but I never change the goggle as it still serve me well in the basic functions.
But as the years goes by, the rubber band of the goggle actuallu get oxidised and lose flexibility and became abit sticky too. So it's any time that it may give way...
Not surprisingly during lap 6 of my swim today I felt a snap around my head and i understand that rubber and gave way and broke. Had to stop and readjust the goggle. Luckily, I found out that I can still make it work by applying pressing the goggle hard onto my fack and creat a suction around my eye area.
With that impromptu improvisation, I actually managed to finish the remaining 4 laps of my swim with the goggle clinch onto my face without the band nicely!!

Nothing really happens...but it's just that I suddenly though of a term for my new found technique of using the goggle - The term "NU-GOGGLE" suddenly come to my mind...I some how cannot help but burst out laughing while I am swimming and also drank a big mouthful of pool water.
But dun think this Nu goggle will work forever...so it's time to ditch it and go to buy myself a proper NEW goggle.

Here are our NEW TYR goggles...AWESOME!!!! things are suddenly crystal clear in water now.

2007S2 My PBP students old meet new

Today is a special day. Special in a sense that we have bothy P5 and P6 students back in school together. And this is the only time of the year that I can arrange for a Old meet New Pbp students under my care.

It's not easy though. Those new PBP students are stuck in CPTC and LT briefings till beyond 4pm. The current P5 students, on the other hand, finished lesson in the morning as early as 10am, after my safety lecture. So It is a inconvenience and a deliberate effort for them to stay back so late to land a giding hand to the new batch.

I can only offer some Uni pep talks, sweets / chocs / wedges along the way...and tell them that if you need to go it's OK. But in the end I am glad that all of them choose to stay. They understand my reasoning behind and all agreed that it is a very good idea and in the end the they decided to do the right thing...depite the troubles.

Zeng Leng is really in a hurry to leave. Pull Farhan out and let them both meet up and exchange contact and brief about some critical info on GE Betz.

Then is Agnes turn meet and arrange 1st day meet up arrangement for Leslie/SiewLian on ItalSing. Even took pict and send to colleague so that they can recognise them on next Monday at MRT. Sweet!

Then when we reach canteen we saw Pik Hua already writing down notes for 1 full page with Euvin advises. I think she took more notes today than during my safety lectures. Hahahaha.

Evlyn / Isaiah left early before we tool picture. Aiyo why she alway leave b4 pict taking!!

then also YX is also advising CX on Seraya attachment experiences.

Hopefully with such assurance and guidence, it will be a good start for the new batch, and with a headstart, half the battle was won...and no worries after that.

Hope not to have another case of "Almost send GHH to GH case".
That phrase, i think incidentally, is the main reason 1 student shoots from B to A in the final grade. Originality / creativity / humour...that's what we like to see in presentation!! She tranformed the problem at attachment into a winning story telling with personal touch.

We all finished the wedges and leave home satisfied as a good job done at 5.45pm.

Don't really realised it was that late (OT!!!) and need to rush home with Euvin. Hope he is not frightened by my hell driving along the way.

Take care guys...will see you all in week 3. :)
