满载而归!!

Thoroughly enjoyed my 11 Day trip to Taiwan this year. For this trip, beside visiting some old familiar places that we really like (eg 士林night market, Book shops at 重庆北路,九份,瑞芳,莺歌), we also visited some new places - like 嘉义,阿里山,奋起湖,三峡,猫空,布袋.

Also tried the High speed rail (300km/hr) to JiaYi and the slow mountain rail ( 15km/hr ) up the Alisan mountain top. Both are very enjoyable and new life experience to us.

Basically the 11 days we just repeat the same pattern of life - 买东西看东西吃东西买东西看东西吃东西买东西看东西吃东西...........

Came back with 60kg of lugguage, very happy that my back didnt give me ant trouble while carrying them along the trip. So let me share with you some of the things that I bought back -

From the above - 14 books / 4 DVDs / Pineapple tarts / Baileys for DT A

Milk candies (from FengQiHu) / Almond biscuits (from JiuFeng) / Cheery blossom tart (Alisan) / rice wine (Alisan) / Square snowflakes buscuits (jiaYi) / gratutute stones pink+ yellow (from YingGe) / Bamboo carcoal beans (JiuFen)

Alisan coffee / Cow + goat milk candies (fengqihu) / Roast pork flakes (Fengqihu) / Tealeaves century egg (RuiFang)

Some wood carvings from YingGe - the same shop we bought last time. This time..the 70 yr old shopkeeper is retiring..no one to take over so shut down sales...we enjoyed a huge discount (>70%) but are sad too...we won't see him again the next time when we come visit this nice pottery town!!

Last but not least - my wife's favourite - 4 pieces of such angel decorations bought at YingGe. Non-breakable and light, they come in various bright colours too!! Nice.

I have already have an idea about the theme about our next visit to taiwan again - - 花莲- 屏东纵谷/ 民宿. Problem is I am not sure where exactly we will be visiting next Dec 08...could be China / Euro ...too early too tell.

07S2 CT winners

I was having lunch with the DTs and DT A mentioned that she will always be on her toe and dun dare to anyhow write her answers in my test papers. I was curious and asked her why so. She answered : "Others tests nvm de, but for you, there will be a chance the nonsense answers will be posted in your blog and the whole world will get to see it. No way I will risk that!!"

I have also discussed some of the rather hilirious answers with the current 3rd year students, and they have also laugh about their seniors input. But now that I marked their common tests, I realised that either some of them dun actually listened or they wanted to contribute to this year entries.

And believe me, some of this year entries is really funny....

I always joked about the 5 mitigating steps are left glove / right glove / let safety shoe / right safety shoe / helmet. This year have afew students come close to that...

Another 1....

And the winner of all : Eat fruits and vegetables!!! take losanges!!! I think he wants to study personal hygiene rather than Industrial safety.

2nd yr RS CL2308 winner : Radio mixing for PFTR. I think she wants to be a DJ instead....
Did you laughed? I did myself!!! hope you enjoy them!!

NYP adventure race

The greatly anticipated event just before we took a break to go for our holidays in week 9/10.

Managed to coarse Christof and the DTs and Ah Meng and Teacher J to form 3 partnerships for the event. Went for the briefings and skills trainings and had fun during those times. So all set for the big day.

It turn out that it was not going to be our days. Christof were so excited about it and wakes up 3am and couldn't go back to sleep after that...so he is not in the best of well rested state. I fared better...waking up about 5am+ but luckily managed to go back to sleep.

Then teacher J illness did not recover in time and DT A has no partner to start with so she went home. So we are already 1 team down before the start...

We the remaining 4 had breakfast at Macdonals and all set for the start. Meet up with quite afew CPT students...some for studying , a couple more fore the event.

Summary of the race :

Damage to body : 4 bleeding palms, 1 bleeding ankle, 1 bruised rib, 1 bruised shoulder, 2 totally exhausted bodies.

Hardwear damage : 2 pairs of soaked and muddy shoes, 2 heavily soaked haversacks, 1 soaked hp, 1 missing watch.

Results : 1st to arrived in NYP!!! (In the ambulance van though...) and plenty of laughter after the event while sharing our experiences with the DTs.

Reached home 12.40pm and showered immediately. Call the DTs at 2.30pm...and surprise surprise...they were still in NYP doing the race!!

They asked me on the phone where am I and i told them i'm already reached home since 12.40pm and soaking in hot water bath now.

"@#$%^&(##$%^&*)(*&^" is what i get back from them. "Jio us to join n u leave for home so early!!!!!!!!!" In the end they eventually completed the race and received a FINISHER t-shirt and also a encouragement gift from me. Never knew Ah meng, who was the most reluctant participants of all...became the 1 who give the most to the race among us....

Insiders like us knew exactly the reason why - 报应!!hahahahahaah

Shopping spree at Kinokuniya

It's year end and my membership in Kinokuniya is almost expiring. So took a half day leave to visit taka branch to renew my membership and at the same time shop for some books for the new year and for distinction students.

While browsing through the English section, glad to see the have stock up the book on "word power made easy". Bought afew copies of that for the coming semester school leavers.

The proceeded to the Business section and shop for "Rules of Life" / "rules of work" / "management " / "wealth" etc...discovered that the author has now written a new book on "rules on parenting". Even more surprising is that the books are now available in AUDIO format!!

That will allow some people like me who prefer to listen at appropriate time rather than to read (cos eye sight really not getting any better...so would rather to reserve for my favourite reading. ) This will also provide extra choice / options for the 4 students per semester for their own preferred present.

Last but not least, slowly spent another hour at the Chinese section. The catch of the day is the new book by HOU WEN YONG. After 4 long years...his new novel is finally ready. I also bought some of his newly printed old books too. I think I have now his full collection. Beside JingYong...he is another author that I really determined to shop and collect his complete work.
Last but not least is Liu Yong's latest of Don't be Fool No.5. It's about medical industry and also quite a nice read. It's explore quite afew interesting cases about doctors' own self conciencious vs survining in the competitive industry. I guess I am lucky, as a teacher, pressure faced was never as high compared to the man in white rope.
Immedaitely started on the new novel of Hou...so far so good. Not sure i can finished it b4 the holiday...will be really heavy to carry this thick book all the way to Taiwan...
