Ben n Jerry Free Cones!!!

As promised we went down together to Greatworld city to enjoy the free cones. Lunch at basement foodcourt 1st.

Actually expecting a few mpre ppl...sk cannot make it last minute, sm says coming but nv see her at nyp...Agent B arrived at 1.40pm...i know she was tied up with work and tried her best to come asap...but we are also working so we left by the time she arrived. Too bad..could not take the picture with her.

Only SH make it to GWC...after her Chemistry exam from NUS. Ahhhh...she did not tell YH...if not could have come together from the exam hall!!. Or maybe YH dun need any more ice cream....hahahahahah.

As promised I took lunch and + 3 cones. SH took 3 cones but w/o lunch. DT A / PY took 2. Ah meng just licked the promo leaflet and donate a thumb drive to me during the car trip. So far my stomach still holding well. :)

I Move Office (AGAIN) - to Q301

For better operating efficiency, I was told to move office again. My 4th office in 5 years. Lucky that I will have a new roommate this time. :)

New office has no window (not that I have the chance in my current office to view anyway), is longis so it will feel abit more cramp. Trying to get an extra couborad to keep my magic stuff and mentos/chocs.

Finished packing by now....left only the working computer. 80% of the files are already transferred across to Q301. Tomorrow 22 Apr will be the day I officially move to Q301.

So remember to go to teh right location when you are looking for me hor!!

Graduation Video shooting Day

Every year about 1 month b4 graduation day, we will engaged an outsourced comopany to help filming a 10-12 mins video. The purpose of this video is basically to inform and entertain the parents / industry guests on Graduation Day while they were waiting for the ceremony to start officially. For us CPT it usually invove filming some activities in the pilot plant and Q4 labs. Hopefully by next year when there is more labs open and ready, we can have more choices eg Q3 labs for Env / Specity Chem etc.

I am not exactly sure when will they show the video...and does every one has a chance to see that video. It could be happening when students are busy lining up outside the hall for their turn so some may miss it. Some don't even know there is such a video exist!! Anyway...as i mentioned, the main aim is to entertain the guests and parents and NOT the students. But it would be very nice and fun if they can watch it.

We also kind of agreed that those who came back to help...get a chance to keep a copy of this v v rare and precious video too!!

Each year, I am tasked to call for some 3rd year graduating students to come back to NYP to help filming. Year by year...I kind of feel that it is getting tougher and tougher to get students back. Students are involved in working p/t or full time very soon now comapred to the past cos the market is really good. The best years is of course 030X class ...we have like 15 students back to help. After that we go out for dinner at AMK. That kind of set the trend for later years of what to expect after shooting of videos.


Last year we only have 4 and this year I was also struggling to get more than 5....until last minute another 2 can make it...so we have 7 instead. I consider this already a very good number.




Some students just shy away when they know they need to face the camera, many are working in the extention of their PBP, some already started working officially!! So what is left of the grduating class really is not much to choose from. So really have to have the magnificient 7 who can come back to help. If not, when the video is shown to the parents...all are either MB or SIT students and no CPT students images.


Our filming time is in the morning this year, so the group acted from 9-1pm and finally when it's over, we went over to AMK to have lunch. Actually wanted to buy Pepper lunch, but thanks to Student H, who needs Halal food, then we all go eat Pizza instead. Wow that saves me 1/2 the cost. Thanks!! :)


The one who is enjoying most must be student E (my PEM cum class rep). He never thought he will be selected by the file director to be the main actor and was enjoying the limelight. Who knows, he may get use to it and will consider switch to acting after army. Hahahahaha.

Student B Agent B

If you can still remeber from my previous entry on DnD 2008, student B is the one who win the award for "Almost cannot recognise". After taking pictures, we chatted for awhile and one of the topics disccussed is her immediate future. She told me that she is now actually enrolled to be a full time housing agent!! I am abit surprised but not totally as I have hints from her attachemnt days with me that she will be going straight into working and she is not going to work in a chemical plant type.

Later on we met again in MSN and we talked abit more about her working details. From there I found out that she is now taking her exams and before passing it, she is now doing mostly house renting rather than sales. that immediately ring a bell in my head and I thought that maybe it will be a good idea to let her handle my mum 4-room flat in Clementi.

Currently the unit is rented out to 3 sepearte tenents, each paying $350 a room only. And I pay their utilities bill!!! When i told her the current scenario, she must he laughing off her chair and told me why am I subsididing their living?????

Straight away we both went into actions. Send 1 month notice to current tenants to stop the rent, advertise the unit, apply for HDB full house rental approval, renovation of the minor repairs, buy new TV / washing machine / air-con screening for the highest bidder on the reply from adverts etc etc.

After 5 weeks, the refurbished unit is finally ina much more presentable condition and the highest bidder agreed to pay me $2500 per month for the rental, and a 2- yr contract is signed and money transferred into my bank already. DEAL!!!

I would not have the time and energy and resources to handle this myself and it's really good that she was doing alot of the detail works for me. All i need to do is say yes proceed. And it paid off and the deal was struck....it was also her first deal!! I hope this will give her a good start of her carrer later. :)

I was highly impressed with her committment and she was well worth her agent fees. On top of that I even suggest that I offer 50% discount on her Bali trip!! Not sure she wants to accept the offer though...still considering.

Another student B also told me that she had landed her dream job!!! I straight away say it must be SIA stewardess...and I was correct!!! She was really in a good mood so I dun want to poke fun at her..saying that "SIA dropped the minimumr height equirements meh??". But I do joked that we hope to see her on our way to Bali on the same flight. We will really try to ask lot from her!!

Lucky that so far none of the students has become insurance agent yet....I first have to announce I have more than 20 policies in the family now (REALLY!!) and saturated liao....so if you look for your carrer 1st deal...no need to ask for me. No deal!! hahahahahaha

Ben n Jerry Free Cone Day Outing Apr 29 12am

First I would like to thank Mui Mui & Marcus for the reminder that this year BnJ Free Cone day is approaching. The date is 29th Apr, actually falls on Tuesday. This is great cos I don't have any lesson on Tues and can enjoy the outing without interference.

After putting the advert on my MSN nick, I have also received quite afew queries from various ppl about the nature of the outing. So I guess I need to lay out abit more details regarding what happen that day too.

This is what I intend to do on 29th Apr:

12.00 am - reach GreatWorld City mall (less crowd there)
12.00-12.30 - Light lunch (expect to fill 50% of my stomach)
12.30 onwards Free icec ream at BnJ!!!

I have learnt from my very painful experience last year. So this year I will take light lunch rather than going in with empty stomach. Last year I took 6 cones and my body rejected all of them later. So this year I will go for 3 instead.

Those of U who can join me for light lunch or the actual free ice cream tasting please let me know. I will buy you lunch if U promise to eat 4 or more cones. (It's a very tempting trap!!!)

If many can stay till later part of evening...I might even consider taking 1/2 day leave and we can continue with Dice / cards / settlers...even more dangerous cos more forefeits coming!!!!
